Tools & Resources
When you are running your own offline business there are tools that you are going to need in order to get the job done. The example I use in my 6 Step Formula To A Successful & Profitable Online Business is a Hairdresser. If you cut peoples hair for a living then there are certain tools you need to be able to do that - right. You will need clippers, hair dryers, scissors, combs - you get the picture. You will also need business cards, website to get your name out there so people know you exist, that is how you will get customers - advertising.
Online business is no different. Being online, making money online is a business. It still needs tools and resources to get the job done. For some reason people think they can just make money online without spending anything and even expect to make $1000's a month without any investment. WRONG! You can most definitely make big money online but you have to be prepared to invest in both yourself and the tools and resources needed to make it all work.
Welcome to the Tools and Resources section, this is a list of the tools and websites I strongly recommend for building and optimising your online business.I have personally tested every recommendation on this page and have used them in building my online business to where it is today. Before we get started telling you exactly what they are and how they work, here is an important disclosure.
One of the things that separates the successful internet marketers from the struggling internet marketers are the tools they use. Without the proper tools, you are loosing money hand over fist.
I use 5 foundation tools to run my Internet business. The great thing about these tools is, they are very low cost, meaning anyone can acquire them to get their business up and running. Without the following tools, I wouldn’t be anywhere near as successful as I am.
- Hosting - Hosting is what provides the technology and services needed for a website or webpage to be viewed on the Internet. Websites and their files are hosted, or stored, on special computers called servers.
- Domain Name - is the URL of the website, my domain name is clairewashington.com.
- Autoresponder - This is used in your email marketing, it stores email addresses of your prospects and subscribers and allows you to email them on a regular basis. It automates your email marketing
- WordPress - Is an online website creation tool, it is what you create you blog with, this very site is created using wordpress, it's probably the easiest and most powerful blogging and website content management system in use today.
- Landing Page/Squeeze Page Software/Plugin - Allows you create pages for your marketing, creating a squeeze pages allows people to opt-in to your email list in return for a free offer, building you a list of targeted prospects.
If you’re serious about online business, these tools are not optional. They are a must have.
So what specific tools do I use and how much do they cost.
I personally use UK2.net. They are based here in the UK however, their hosting services are worldwide. Click Here to check out their packages. As with any hosting I recommend starting with the low cost package and upgrade when needed. I have business hosting which costs around £4 a month. There is always a deal of some kind on.
There are a lot of solutions for e-mail marketing and I have tried out a fair few. I always come back to one, Aweber. They are professional, support is fantastic and they make it easy to design and send emails. You can access a 30 day FREE trial here. After the 30 days it then costs $19.99 per month for up to 500 subscribers, then goes up in price depending upon number of subscribers.
Most hosting providers nowadays include a domain name, however, I like to purchase it separately and reason for that is, I don't want all my eggs in one basket. If something should happen with my hosting I still have my domain name, also if I want to change hosting providers at any stage it is much easier to do, if my domain is purchased separately. I use NameCheap, here you can find low cost domain domains and then simply direct your domain name to your hosting provider which they can show you how to do through their tutorials, if you get stick feel free to contact me and I can help. You can check out NameCheap here. Pricing varies depending upon what you purchase, .com, .co.uk, .net etc. But it's not much.
WordPress is FREE and very easy to install, you are required to have hosting, once you have your hosting you can simply follow their instructions to install WordPress onto your site. Usually only a couple of clicks and its installed. Not hard at all. I do offer a FREE WordPress installation service, if you are interest, please click here.
